It appears as white/yellowish powder or clear liquid, freely soluble in water to form high-viscosity solution. Its aqueous pH ranges 3–5, molecular weight adjustable from 5000 to 500,000, and viscosity changes with polymerization degree. Stable in acidic/neutral medium yet prone to hydrolysis under strong alkaline conditions.
Versatile across multiple sectors: In water treatment, it disperses silt and Ca/Mg precipitates as anti-scale agent. It serves as coating thickener to improve rheology, textile dye dispersant for even coloring, detergent thickener & softener for better cleaning. In papermaking, it boosts paper wet strength; in cosmetics, it adjusts viscosity and moisturizes; for oilfield, it controls scaling to refine water quality.
